Hello Everyone,
I first want to share an experience I had last night. I was working with a missionary in my area and chose to knock some doors with the remaining time we had. As we were driving around, we thought it would be good to knock a street that had a good number of cars parked. We looked left and right as we passed street after street with hopes to find a good street. We drove past Lorrie Drive, and I felt a subtle prompting that there was someone we needed to talk to on that street. Because we were driving aimlessly I kept going, and I was distracted at the thought, "that street is the same name as my Mom, but it isn't the same spelling, I should cross out the "r" and "i" and put an apostrophe, then it would be a good street." We continued to drive and look for other streets. Another thought came to my mind that we needed to knock somewhere near a particular members home. I put their address in our GPS and then away we went. Without realizing where we were going we came to the members street on Beverly which intersected with Lorrie Drive. I remembered the prompting I had earlier, so I thought a little bit harder about where we needed to go. We parked just north of the members home and began to knock. About three doors later, a hispanic woman in her late 20's opened up the door with a big smile. Viane was so friendly with us and knew who we were. Viane explained her mother had visited with spanish missionaries about 6 months ago, but they had stopped coming by and they didnt know why. Viane noticed a pamphlet was left by the missionaries so she had read it and had the desire to know more. We shared our testimonies and explained a bit more about the church. Her smile helped us understand the excitement she had about knowing more and attending church. With Viane's mother only speaking spanish, we arranged for the spanish missionaries to come back and teach them. I know that God wanted us to speak to her and that we were lead by the Holy Ghost to visit her. I am so thankful to be a part of this work and know that there are people just waiting to be found. It is a great blessing to find them.
Today, Jennifer is going to be baptized. Earlier in the week, we met her at the church and walked her through the baptismal service. It was so powerful to see her in the font and practice the sacred ordinance of baptism. It has been great teaching her and watching her testimony grow. She has become converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ, and knows it is the first step to salvation.
We were able to welcome another missionary to the Texas Dallas Mission. It is amazing to see how mindful the Lord is of His servants. There have been a few missionaries that have had to go home for various reasons, and two missionaries have been reassigned to serve in our mission. Both Elders were reassigned for unique circumstances and not because we had missionaries go home. It is another evidence that the Lord knows His sheep and is directing them to where they are most needed.
A senior couple was welcomed back to serve in the mission office. They were serving when I first came to Dallas, so it has been great to have them back and work closer with them.
There was also a training meeting in East Texas this week. It is always great to be with groups of missionaries and help train on the needs of the mission. Last week there was a mission-wide fast to increase the number of baptisms. We have seen immediate blessings come from that fast, and know our prayers have been answered. I love being a part of this work.
Transfers calls will be coming up this next Saturday, so the prep work will be done this next week. I love being a part of transfers. It is always a special experience to place missionaries with companions in particular areas. It is a lot of work, but we are ready for it.
I love you all and thank you for your prayers and letters. Have a wonderful week.
With love,
Elder Seager
