Companion: Elder Michael Louder
Hello Everyone,
This last week has brought so many miracles I don't know where to start.
There have been a few individuals we have been guided to that are well prepared
to receive the gospel. The first being a family that we knocked into for another
proselyting area. At first, the man who answered the door was not interested,
and just before we left, he offered us water. We gladly accepted, so he let us
in his doorway while he went to grab some bottles of water. His mother was
sitting on the couch and said hello, so after the normal introduction, she began
to ask us questions. I could write a whole letter about this experience, but in
short, it lead to an opportunity to teach the restoration. They marveled at the
story of Joseph Smith and was so excited to read the Book of Mormon. The
missionaries serving in the area will have a great opportunity to teach that
family.
Elder Louder and I received a media referral for a woman that has been
searching for a church for a little while now. She has a sister that joined the
church 10 years ago, and she noticed the change that happened in her family's
life as they became members. She too wants that change, so she requested a
missionary visit. We called her to set a time to meet. She asked if we could
come that night, so we did. The lesson went amazing and she was able to come to
church on Sunday. It is a joyful experience to get members of the ward involved
and plan ways to help her receive answers to her prayers.
Two weeks ago, we knocked into a man named Zack that knew members from high
school. After about 20 minutes talking to him, he left it open for us to come
back when we were in the neighborhood. During our weekly planning session this
week, we felt inspired to go by and see Zach, so we set a time to go by. We
approached his house and met his roommate outside, so we asked if Zach was home.
He was, so he turned to go inside and get him. Zach let us in and allowed us to
share a message. We taught the Restoration. The Spirit was strong the entire
visit, and we were able to set a baptismal date. While trying to set a return
appointment, we felt it would be a good idea to invite him to a baptism that was
happening in the district. He agreed to attend, so we explained the time and
location of the service. He felt the Spirit at the baptism and expressed his
excitement for his baptism on September 29th. The next day he attended church.
The members in the ward were great at helping him feel comfortable and welcome.
He has received answers to his prayers and is so excited for his day to come.
There are many other details I could write about with Zach. The Spirit has
guided us every step of the way. The timing has been inspired, and I am so
thankful for the blessed opportunity to teach him the gospel.
I love each of you. I am so thankful to have this last week to work hard
and go out with a bang. The gospel is real and the call to serve the Lord is
directed by our Savior and His chosen servants. Thank you for all of your love
and prayers. Last week will be my last letter as a missionary. It is an exciting
time for change, but definitely bitter sweet. Have a great week. We will see
each other soon.
With love,
Elder Seager
